I just started working in WordPress Studio for my local website development. Today I learned, you can export a site from Local and drag/drop the *.zip file into Studio. Then creating a new site in Studio, give it a name and in the Import from backup row, either navigate to the respective folder or use drag & drop to associate the export with the new site in Studio.
When I tested this, I had to start the Local site first, before I could export it. But it worked like a charm. See for yourself in this video of the whole process:
Why Studio?
- Sync with WordPress.com lets you easily connect your hosted WordPress.com site with your local Studio site, allowing updates to flow in both directions.
- Demo Sites – create interactive snapshots of your local sites to share with clients or teammates, all powered by WordPress.com.
- Superfast WordPress Installation – No matter how many projects you’re juggling, you can set up unlimited local sites in Studio.
- Dependency-Free Building – Build lightweight and reliable local WordPress sites using WordPress Playground, without dealing with Docker, NGINX, Apache, or MySQL.
- One-Click Admin – Forget about password chaos—just click once to access WP Admin for each site.
- Open Your Site Anywhere – Work on your sites however you like. Access your site’s code in your go-to IDE, CLI, or file browser to match your workflow.
If you are interested in viewing a demo version of the Twenty-Twenty-Five theme, you can do that via Playground.
